Mental Health Sunday Devotional - Day 1

DAY 1

GOD IS OUR SHEPHERD

SCRIPTURE READING: PSALM 23

In this beloved Psalm, we are reminded of important characteristics of our God. And what a beautiful place to spend time today-rehearsing what is true of our LORD!

David writes in this Psalm that the LORD is our Shepherd. The following verses support this characteristic of our God in great detail.

As a Shepherd, He knows us. He cares for us. He is aware of the dangers that we may experience, and He offers His protection. He actively provides for us. And He is willing to guide us to good places.

DO YOU FIND PEACE AND REST IN THE REALITY OF WHO GOD IS?

As we begin a week of devotional study in God's Word and bring to light the realities of mental health struggles many face, it is crucial to begin with a rock-solid foundation and understanding of who God is.

God, as a Good Shepherd, created each and every one of us in His image. We are image-bearers of God, and we are precious to Him.

As we read more of His Word this week and as we relate it to the brokenness of this world, may we always return to what is true of Him.

No matter how big your problems may feel, no matter how messy the situation is you're walking through, God is your Good Shepherd.

Whether you've been excited and waiting to devote time in your church to mental health or you're scared of the unknowns it might bring, God is your Good Shepherd.

Receive that today and let the words of Psalm 23 wash over you, giving you a foundation for the week ahead.

Today, we invite you into the practice of praying Scripture. Read the words of Psalm 23 and make them a prayer to God today.

HERE ARE PROMPTS FOR YOU TO BEGIN THIS PRACTICE:
